Card holding strategies
Poker hands in tens or Better
Although it is a common fact that any hand that pays must be held back, but there are always exceptions in cards that are dealt. |
Always hold four card Royal Flushes to create Flushes or Straight |
Hold four card flushes, three card royal flushes; high card pairs rank four card straight flushes. |
It is important that you hold four card straight, but you must also know that if you have more than three high cards (like 10, J, Q, K and A) than holding any straight would benefit. |
When trying to create a Three of kind hand, holding low pairs rank is good. |
Always hold any two high cards with same suits or any two unsuited high cards. |
Always hold single cards like A or K or Q or J or 10. |
When dealt with unsuited high cards, prefer to hold J, Q and K. If the combination is AKJ or AQJ, prefer to discard the Ace card. |
You should not discard any winning hand, unless and until you get four cards to Royal Flush. |
It would be advisable that you discard all the five dealt cards when you don’t have 3 cards to Royal Flush, Flush and Straight, as well as no High or Low pair. |
Always hold a non-paying low pair, while discarding the other cards. |
You must avoid holding a face card when the hand contains a low pair, as it increases the probability of hitting three of a kind. Except when your hand has 3 cards to royal flush or four cards to flush or straight, this exception requires you to get rid of low pair instead of the face card. |
Tens or Better Payout
